Yes. No. YES. I don't know how many times I had to
persuade myself to study for English. Although I had completed the preparation
essay I feel like there's still a long way to go. *echoes of long*
Optimistically, the pain is almost over. *prances* not. I mean x-country before
English exam? Not only will I be tackling the thick A4 booklet presented in
front of me but also the sweat that is attempting to drown my poor soul. 30
degrees of sun for the rest of the week + English extension 1 story to write &
study for the following week. No wonder I'm called a nerd 8D (But not as nerdy
as these 2 girls I overheard in the toilets talking about work! lol Girl A "Hey
gotta study" Girl B "Yeh I know" Girl A "Let's study whilst walking to the
library" Girl B "Nah I rather study in library" L O L) Not only that but
everyone I clash into at school (including my beloved bf :D) is in potential
danger of being murdered by me - or attempt murder at least. Sorry I don't go
punching others as a workout so my physical strength is not as great as yours!
Not to mention Optus has failed yet again to provide me with a descent internet
connection or is it my wireless that is acting up? I'm living on cheapy Windows
Messenger & dry almond biscuits fit for a bird. I feel T_T And then the thought
of creating this place came to mind. So instead of building more intellectual
pain for everyone, let's share what I have to offer. Hope it helps : )

@_@ I feel dizzy at the moment so I
guess it isn't really necessary to go into detail the incidents of today - & I
called them 'incidents' because...they were horrible events one after the other.
English exam gave my shoulders & fingers a great workout & x-country which gave
it to the rest of my fragile body. I am in no mood to write English Extension 1
story because I know that after writing I would be obliged to memorise it & as a
matter of factly, I really don't think my mind or my body is physically able to
take so much in a day. I must also be sympathetic to myself because I have tutor
tomorrow - & the day after. BUT for every bad there's a good: NEW T, NEW watch
(I'm mad about watches, this is like my 6th one), NEW knee socks (Parra shopping
with bf >u<) & an empty wallet - I didn't purchase that, I earnt it after using
all my cash. Speaking of wallets I think I need a new one of that as well O x O'
Thanks to Lang, my new affiliate, I have also re-exposed myself to the J-rock
world that I was once consumed in & it feels....rocky.

So my birth name is Carissa. Look even
Microsoft believes it's not an existing word. They have caress, Clarissa,
Marissa, Larissa but not Carissa. Why do they give ugly zig-zag lines to
my name & not to others? And it is probably difficult to remember as well since
it's spelt so wrongly. That explains why I have so many nicknames & why I don't
respond to people which is also why I GET USED AS AN EXERCISING TOOL 'CAUSE
PEOPLE PUNCH & SWEAR AT ME FOR NOT RESPONDING. "Fucken Carissa!" WELL "F**K
YOU". Feel my w r a t h. Okay, I'm an unhappy girl when it comes to name calling
& I don't enjoy my education at high school
much - so that's it, I'm emo. Isn't that what people are labeled as when
they're unhappy or should I say 'sad' at one time or another? So I guess I'm a
temporary emo. I don't enjoy it but I get it sometimes. I'm a
sadist & more importantly a
masochist. This does not support the idea that I'm emo, just that I'm
kinky

Comparative texts study worth 15%
Okay, you don't pay enough attention in class/you didn't read Gatsby/you
don't understand Barret Browning's poems. Read, indulge & use it if you find it
useful. Any problems or questions, comment & I'll reply asap.
FORGET READING ANY OF THOSE TEXTS IF YOU HAVEN'T STARTED. Prepare a preparation
essay. Notes absorbed from two Advanced English teachers.
! Compare the differences & similarities of the novel & poem including THEMES &
VALUES*.
! Understand & mention the background of each of them vaguely: Gatsby came from
the 20th century Jazz Age; Sonnets from the 18th century Victorian Age - expand
on this
! *THEMES: Gatsby - false illusional love with Daisy, corruption of the Jazz Age
(very important, you MUST mention corruption), status & wealth that separated
society, downfall of American Dream & the uproar of the Roaring 20s; Sonnets -
real pure love expressed, Romantic poets of that time (Browning was one)
expressions of emotions
! Look at the structure of both texts, in particular the sonnets which has a
fixed rhyming pattern etc.
! Use techniques + quotes to support your themes & values e.g. "Sonnets from the
Portuguese" explored the value of pure ideals revolving around love. The
use of positive adjectives "...I love thee purely..." suggests this passion
evident etc.
! The prepared essay will relate to the set question in the exam but be prepared
to tweak & change your essay according to what the question is asking!
! No. of words you should be aiming for: 1000 words (+) if you're a fast
writer since you're given 45-50 minutes to complete the task.
